Mixtape: Run to You
What started out as insomnia-fueled spree (I’m really active on Twitter at 5am these days) turned into a quest to finally try to collect as many songs as I could remember from my high school anime days that led to Pump It Up days, and put them on one Spotify list.
The biggest problem is that most aren’t accessible, and some I just don’t remember the names (it’s been like 20 years, cut me some slack). Also, the old hard drive where I have a lot of my songs I can’t access because my cat decided the chord was something to chew on. However, I tried to remember as many songs as my old non-fluent Japanese brain could, and went through an old computer where I had some of the songs and came up with a list. I was going to throw in some non-Asian picks, but felt that I should keep it on theme.
Some honorable mentions that I would have put on the playlist if Spotify had them:
Nanka Shiawase - the OYSTARS
This is SUCH a fun song. As soon as I hear it makes me happy. I wasn’t a big Flame of Recca Fan, but this song went on all of my CD mixes.
Λucifer - Datenshi Blue
I went through a sad time where I remembered that Lucifer is a group that I loved in high school…the only problem is that they literally debuted and disbanded during my high school years. Because of that, I only can listen to them on poor quality music video uploads on YouTube. :( I love all their songs.
Sakanoue Yosuke - Super Drive
I have clear memories of being in my friend’s car on our Orlando trips blasting the Gravitation OST on repeat.
Malice Mizer - Bel Air
Honestly, is this list an actual list without Malice Mizer? It’s also an excuse to put more GACKT on this list.
