2PMathon Update: Week Three
I wasn’t as productive on the challenge this week as I thought I would be. I had some other things to watch and do, and it cut into my schedule. Not going to lie, I’m not having high hopes of being able to complete everything by next week…but we are still going to try.
Shall We Fall in Love
The best news to come out of this week: I completed Shall We Fall in Love! I can’t explain to you how great it is knowing that the two hardest dramas are behind me. But then I remember they took me most of the challenge and now only I have a week left. It’s possible that the two hardest (and not much loved) dramas might be the only things I complete for this challenge. So there’s that.
Not much to say generally about the drama in the last half of the series, except that the drama went on the typical emotional wave that I expected. It got sort of interesting during the company sabatoge plot, but the rest was meh.
Some highlights were my love for Dingfei’s dad. Really. This character is rarely ever written this way. In any other drama, she would have been the outcast always trying to prove her worth to the dad as the illegitimate daughter. Yet, in some saving grace, her dad was wonderful to not only her but the company and the employees on a whole.
Despite her slight hiccup by getting the main lead fired in an act of jealousy, Dingfei remained my favorite character. Honestly, she kept me in it to the end…
Well, maybe also those great moments with her and Nichkhun.
I hopelessly fell in love with the couple that would never be. Such a shame, cause they honestly had the best chemistry. I’m sure it was mostly because they actually knew each other for years before this (as opposed to probably meeting most of the other actors when they started working with them). But they weren’t a bad couple within the drama either.
Really wish she had never gotten back with Haoyu, but Asian dramas really like their redemption plots. (Dingfei you are better than him and deserve the world). That was honestly the biggest misstep in this drama. Well, I guess also the Vice President? She was pretty cool in beginning but went on a ride towards the end. I’m not going to lie to you, since I didn’t actually like this drama that much I don’t remember much in detail, but I’m fairly positive they forced her character into the way that she ended without much care for what they had already established of her, which I’m not a fan of. It kind of felt forced and weird.
Confession
I haven’t really gotten far on this at the time I’m writing this post, but I have officially started back up on Confession. I had already started this back when it was airing but had to sideline it because of life and work but it’s just as good as I remembered it. Crime dramas are just my happier spot, sorry rom-coms.
I’ll probably actually get through this one pretty fast. It’s a good drama, and I’m enjoying it. Since it’s a crime drama where everything is connected I won’t want to wait through the cliff hangers at the end of the episodes and it’ll just generally be an easier binge. Also, lots of brooding Junho is always a plus.
Hopefully I can get through the rest of the dramas this week. I am fairly open schedule-wise, and I feel like I’ll be able to binge Confession pretty quickly so it’s possible that the other two will also go well. I do have a slight backup plan if need be, so there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I have to remind myself that Shall We Fall in Love was the equivalent of more than two kdramas, so I can’t be that down on myself that I didn’t do anything. This is also just another testament as to why I don’t hate watch dramas, and am fine with letting ones go that I don’t like just to see if they will eventually work (both dramas I knew I wouldn’t like by second episode). Check back next week for my final wrap up to see if I can turn everything around in the last week.
