weekly roundup // 11.3.19

BOFsisternews.jpg

This has been a rough week for me, and I wanted to focus on other things so here’s all the news that I could find. Definitely probably missed a lot of stuff towards the end of the week, but if you follow me on Twitter you know why.

-Melomance’s Kim Min Seok to enlist after releasing a single on the 6th.

LINKS▹▹

-Eric Nam

Eric Nam has a new audio show on Naver NOW called The Eric Name Show.

-Woojin

Not that I think anyone missed this, but Woojin from Stray Kids has left the group and JYP. I don’t follow Stray Kids, but I do know this was a hard blow to some people and hope that his departure was for amicable reasons and the best thing for him.

-Game of Thrones

Listen, this blog technically is also about books, so I can post links about book related stuff and not feel bad, right? I’m posting this insane twitter thread because if you happen to miss it last week I need you all to stop and read it. It is a fascinating look at male privilege and never once do they try to stop themselves from sounding the utmost terrible. In a happier spin, if you think you can’t do it trust that there are people who can’t and still get to do the thing.

-Young K

DAY6 had a pop-up store, the members went to sign things…and then there was Young K

-Brown Eyed Girls

Brown Eyed Girls came back with their album, which is covers of different songs and it is actually the best thing.

-DAY6

Listen, I’m into DAY6 now. Like, really into them now, so you all are going to have to deal with more content about them. This is a good article about their newest album which you should all go listen to because it is amazing and perfect.

-The Man Who Laughs Musical

There was finally #wkdtheatre news this week! I haven’t been keeping up partly because the world doesn’t love musicals that much and doesn’t like to talk about them, and mostly cause these things are never translated and your girl can’t read Korean. But here we are with news that SuJu’s Kyuhyun, EXO’s Suho, and SG Wannabe’s Seokhoon will all be in a musical. It’s got a stellar cast. Wish I could go see it.

-We Will Rock You Musical

Told you, it was a good theatre week. N.Flying’s Hweseung cast in We Will Rock You. Shannon and Im So Ra are also in the cast.

-Follow

Monsta X made their comeback this week and we really haven’t been able to enjoy it but you should all go and listen to it. Rolling Stone put out a nice little article about the mv.

-HBO Max

HBO Max has been officially announced and it has been announced that Adult Swim programming will be on it as well. Along with Crunchyroll and Studio Ghibli films, I have a theory that we might be getting some of those DramaFever jdramas that have not been picked up, that’s just too much Japanese content to not think it’ll go that way.

-Love Alarm Season 2

Love Alarm has been officially confirmed for a season 2. Didn’t watch the first, won’t watch the second, but did we actually think this wouldn’t be the outcome?

-Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher was in London for a concert and did an interview where they talked about the EDM influence in ‘Silent Night’ and how that might effect some future comebacks and their role in writing lyrics.

-Older Kpop Fans

This is a really good article about a woman’s journey into getting into kpop and accepting to like something deemed as for a younger crowd and how kpop actually influenced her to go back into writing.

-Kim Ji Young, Born 1982

Kim Ji Young, Born 1982 has been released, and although there has been backlash the movie is steadily gaining views.

-Oscars

This is actually huge, as the academy has changed a rule so that now all members can vote on International Films. I think this will have a huge impact on traction for some of these films.

-Lee Dong Wook

Lee Dong Wook will be host for a new talk show called Lee Dong Wook Wants to Talk.
